BreadTalk, Yu Neng Primary School and OCBC Bank collaborated on a pilot project on food waste composting to reuse and recycle, as we do our part for the environment. Over 6 sessions from August to November 2016, 40 students from the school’s science club, along with 160 volunteers from BreadTalk and OCBC staff, prepared the food compost by packing cake trimmings into a large bin of potting soil and spraying the contents with a solution of microbes to promote the decomposition process. Half of the compost was donated to the local gardening community while the rest was sold to OCBC to be used for more fund raising for the bank’s selected charities.
